The Garden Ant & Pharaoh Ant
Pharaoh Ants are of great significance because they carry harmful germs which they contract from rotting food, faecal matter and drains. They are a particular pest in hospitals and are difficult to eradicate.
There are two main types of Ant in the UK, the Garden Ant and the Pharaoh Ant, the most common being the Garden Ant. They are a pest because they can get anywhere and everywhere, especially in around kitchens and food sources. They are particularly drawn to sugary substances. Although having Ants in and around food is unpleasant they do not present any risk. The Pharoah Ant on the other hand can carry a number of harmful germs, should you have an infestation of Pharoah Ants it must be treated by a professional.
